Dial-up Internet Connection - Setup for Windows 95

This setup is only for BAM Internet customers who are using the Windows 95 dial-up networking. If you are using another operating system DO NOT follow these instructions below or you may damage your existing setup.

Step #1

Select the Start button, then Programs, then Accessories, then the Dial-Up Networking option.

If you do not have a "Dial-Up Networking" option then you will also need to install Dial-Up Networking for Windows. You can do that by selecting "Start", then "Settings", then "Control Panel", then double-clicking the "Add/Remove Programs" icon. Next select the "Windows Setup" tab and make sure there is a solid black checkmark beside the "Communications" option. Select "OK", you may be prompted for your Windows installation CD-ROM or diskettes.

Step #2

Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

Step #3

Enter "BAM Internet" for the name of the computer and then select the Next button.

Step #4

Enter the dial-up phone number and then click the Next button.

Click the Finish button.

Step #6

Delete any old entries that you no longer use by right-clicking them and selecting "Delete". This will ensure that you do not accidentally try to dial an out-of-date connection.

Step #7

Double-click the BAM Internet icon, enter your username and password and you are ready to connect to the Internet. If you have any problems getting setup, please call our technical support staff at 245-6291 and they would be happy to help you get connected.

Optional:

For login performance or security reasons you may wish to change some of the default settings of your connection. To make these changes, right click on the BAM Internet icon, then select Properties with your left mouse button. Click on the Server Types tab, and deselect "Log on to network", "NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX Compatible".
